ASSESSMENT
Assessment Design Plan
Lino Printing - Junior Cycle
The design plan below details how I have provided formative and summative assessment for a Junior Cycle print project. Peer and self assessment stages allow students to take ownership of their learning and the direction of their work, while keeping the agreed upon success criteria and learning intentions as guiding elements of classroom tasks. Feedback is provided in multiple forms to support different types of learners. The physical and digital sketchbook play a vital role in documenting newly acquired technical skills, conceptual exploration and process of development of the project from beginning to completion.
Unit of Learning
Lino Printing - Junior Cycle
Students created observational drawings of various houseplants, focusing on Line, Shape and Space. They developed a unique design for their lino tile based on one or more of their drawings. A main aim of each design was capturing an even balance between positive and negative space, and a sense of ‘flow’. Once the designs were refined and carefully carved into linoleum tiles, students explored different colour schemes, expressing their understanding of contrast or harmony.
