DYSLEXIA RESEARCH

Differentiation Strategies

1. I use a variety of communication methods - verbal explanation, visual aids, worksheets, written step-by-step instruction (whiteboard and handouts), video links that all support the lesson.

2. I demonstrate everything myself with the group. Further demos for individuals or smaller groups who may need extra support. I believe in making sure students participate in demonstrations so they can build their own collective understanding and to also teach others who may be absent for a lesson.

3. I strive to plan for higher and lower achievers and to make sure they share the same learning outcomes. This involves the anticipation of challenges and opportunities through my own reflective practice as I work simultaneously with students.

4. Discussing work as a group to evaluate how everyone is doing and to inspire other students' ways of thinking about each project or task. I will regularly discuss and assess work with individuals to see if they need any additional support - or to learn something from them.

5. I try to avoid repeating class structures - keeping things fresh and exciting for those who may become less engaged if repetition occurs.

6. I encourage students discuss the projects and generate ideas themselves, allowing them to bring their own contemporary interests into the classroom, so they will be more motivated about the subject matter and feel increased personal value in their work.
