PHOTOGRAPHY
Practitioner / Teacher
I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. Every college course I have been through had very different but equally enjoyable photography modules for me to build on my interest in it's history and my understanding of what is possible through film and digital photography. My favourite photographers include William Eggleston, Fred Herzog, Jim Marshall and Danny Clinch, but I find inspiration in everything from Hollywood films, Irish history, my hometown, daily life and travelling.
I find photography can stand up by itself as an art discipline because of the endless possibilities there are when combining light, colour, time and movement. But, it also can help students to build a composition for a print, painting or drawing. It can compliment a 3D piece by documenting the process of creation and highlighting the completed work. Photography can be utilised and manipulated for endless purposes in the art room, so I intend on integrating it in many Units of Learning.
