FILM
The Railway in Cavan
Documentary film on the rise and fall of the railway in Cavan. This film began as a short project during the Digital Media module on my PME course and evolved into a year long production. Photo restoration, motion graphics, audio effects, video manipulation and colour grading were combined to create the completed film. Research was completed over 12 months through Cavan Library, online, and through in-person interviews.
New York - Film Photography
Personal project documenting a photographic excursion throughout New York City. Various film stocks were used to capture still images, while video was captured using an iPhone camera. Editing techniques such as these could be enjoyable and educational for young learners.
GPS Florida promo
Promotional video and graphics for GPS Florida soccer club, for an annual national convention held in Boston, MA. A combination of print, photography, video, graphic design, motion effects and illustration were used to create a dynamic, attention grabbing advertisement. Being capable of mixing numerous technical skills and ideas can open up endless possibilities for student artwork, and lead them towards careers in many growing industries.
Killykeen Forest Park
A promotional video for the local tourism board to supplement a County Council programme promoting outdoor activities and healthy lifestyles. Students can create interesting film/video for their own enjoyment or artistic expression similar to a painter. They need only to learn the fundamentals, refine their skills and thinking processes and then explore what is possible, which I will encourage them to do.
Filmmaking
In 2007 I graduated from ATU Donegal with a BA (Hons.) in Digital Media Design. Video production was my favourite module on the course so I have continued to create promotional content for myself and for a number of organisations I've had the pleasure of collaborating with. These include schools in which I have completed teaching placements, county councils, tourism boards and numerous businesses, both large and small.

Throughout my PME course there has been an emphasis on integrating ICT teaching strategies in the classroom, with video playing a vital part in differentiation and supplementing learning activities. I hope to combine traditional disciplines such as drawing, painting and printmaking with video production, so that students can express themselves creatively and artistically in as many ways as possible in today's digital world. Modern art employs video in many ways, which I hope to integrate into my Units of Learning. School video installations will be an exciting opportunity to explore.
