Research Report

My PME research report explored how targeted worksheets could help a group of 1st year students to build deeper learning throughout a Junior Cycle art project. I researched the extent to which their technical skills and understanding of art elements could improve, by giving ownership and responsibility of work to the students through self assessment interventions.

 

Throughout my teaching placement I found that formative assessment teaching strategies could enhance levels of engagement and motivation to create higher quality work that was more unique and meaningful to each individual student.

Critical reflection and triangulation of various data collection points helped me to evaluate each major finding. I hope to continue building on my research in this area, and many others, when I have less limitations, such as the timeline and student numbers during my teaching placement.
